Correction Policy

At McCurtain County Government Transparency, we believe that accuracy and accountability are the foundations of trustworthy journalism. We strive for excellence in every report, but we recognize that human error can occur. When we make a mistake, we are committed to correcting it promptly, transparently, and professionally.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

We verify all information through public records, video evidence, and firsthand observation. If you believe we have published an error, we encourage you to contact us immediately. We view reader feedback as an essential tool for maintaining the high standard of oversight our community deserves.

How We Handle Corrections

If an article is found to contain a factual error, we will take the following steps:

  1. Review: Once a correction request is received, our editorial team will promptly review the disputed information against our source material (public documents, recordings, or other verifiable data).

  2. Correction: If an error is verified, we will correct the text of the article.

  3. Transparency: A clear notice will be appended to the bottom of the affected article. This notice will state what was incorrect, what the corrected information is, and the date the correction was made. This ensures that readers who previously viewed the story are made aware of the change.

  4. Significant Errors: In instances of significant factual errors, we may also issue a brief update or social media post to ensure the corrected information reaches our audience.

How to Request a Correction

If you believe you have found an error, please reach out to us at mccurtaincountytransparency@gmail.com with the subject line "Correction Request."

To help us process your request as quickly as possible, please include:

  • The link (URL) to the article.

  • A specific description of the error.

  • The correct information and, if available, supporting documentation or evidence to help us verify the facts.

Note: This policy applies to factual errors in our reporting. It does not apply to differences of opinion or analytical commentary, which are clearly labeled as such.
